During Apple’s recent Wonderlust event in California, they introduced four new iPhones: Vanilla iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. While the Pro models usually get more attention for their innovative features, the regular iPhones have also received significant upgrades this year.

All the iPhones in the iPhone 15 Series operate on the iOS 17 operating system and feature a USB Type C charging port, in accordance with EU regulations.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Enhanced Display, New Camera

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus offer two different sizes: 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays with the same 60HZ refresh rate, both featuring Dynamic Island technology. What is noteworthy is the introduction of color-infused back glass with a textured matte finish. These phones also have a contoured edge on the aluminium enclosure. But what really stands out is their impressive screen brightness, up to 2,000 nits, twice as bright as the previous models as per the Apple.

The latest iPhone models come equipped with camera upgrades. The main camera now boasts a 48 MP sensor, although it is slightly smaller than what is found in the iPhone 15 Pro models and even the iPhone 14 Pro from the previous year. This camera features a quad-pixel sensor and 100 percent Focus Pixels, ensuring fast autofocus for sharp photos. Apple has also introduced a new 24MP default high-resolution setting. Additionally, users can enjoy three optical-quality zoom levels with the addition of a 2x Telephoto option, providing flexibility for capturing a variety of shots.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus bring next-level portraits with sharper details, vibrant colors, and better low-light performance. No need for Portrait mode anymore – when there is a person, dog, or cat in the shot, or you tap to focus, the iPhone automatically captures depth info for stunning portraits later. You can even adjust the focus point after taking the shot. Night mode shines brighter with crisper details and richer colors, and Smart HDR makes skin tones look natural while keeping photos vibrant. These upgrades apply to all cameras: Main, Ultra-Wide, and front-facing. Share better pics with these improvements!

The devices are equipped with the A16 Bionic chipset from the previous year, as Apple strives to maintain a clear distinction between its Pro and non-Pro models.

Starting at $799 / €949, the iPhone 15 comes with 128 GB of storage, while the iPhone 15 Plus begins at $899 / €1,099 with the same storage capacity. You can pre-order these devices starting this Friday, September 15, and they will be officially released on September 22. These phones will be available in a variety of colors, including pink, yellow, green, blue, and black.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: Action Button and Periscopic Zoom

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come in two sizes, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays with 120HZ refresh rate (ProMotion) and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. What is impressive is their strong yet lightweight titanium design, complete with contoured edges and the slimmest bezels ever seen on an iPhone. Apple has opted for titanium frames instead of stainless steel, making these Pro models the lightest they have ever introduced. In comparison to last year’s 14 Pros, the new models shed 19 grams, enhancing their overall portability and sleekness.

The new Action button replaces the old alert slider, giving more choices like quick access to the camera, flashlight, Voice Memos, Focus modes, Translate, and other features. Press and hold to return to silent mode, or assign actions to a single press or double press—it is your choice.

The camera systems on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max offer the equivalent of seven professional lenses, all powered by the A17 Pro chip. With the magic of computational photography, the 48MP Main camera, designed exclusively for the Pro lineup, delivers enhanced flexibility. It now starts with a 24MP super-high-resolution setting, ensuring fantastic image quality at a practical file size, perfect for storage and sharing. The Main camera lets users switch between three popular focal lengths: 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm, and even choose one as their new default option. Besides offering 48MP ProRAW, the Main camera also supports 48MP HEIF images with four times more resolution.

The iPhone 15 Pro boasts an expansive 3x Telephoto camera, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max takes it a step further with the longest optical zoom ever on an iPhone, reaching 5x at 120 mm. The new Telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max introduces an innovative tetraprism design, incorporating both optical image stabilization and autofocus 3D sensor-shift module.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max bring pro-level performance with the industry’s first 3-nanometer A17 Pro chip. This powerhouse CPU is up to 10 percent faster, while the Neural Engine, now 2x faster, enhances features like autocorrect and Personal Voice in iOS 17. The pro-grade GPU delivers up to 20 percent faster speeds, featuring a new 6-core design for peak performance and energy efficiency, unlocking exciting new experiences.

A17 Pro introduces a dedicated AV1 decoder for improved, high-quality video streaming experiences. Plus, a new USB controller enables USB 3 speeds on iPhone, offering significantly faster transfers and supporting 4K video output at 60 fps HDR for the first time.

The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are open for pre-orders starting this Friday. The 15 Pro begins at $999 for the base 128 GB model (€1,199), while the 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 (€1,449). The base model now offers a generous 256 GB of storage. These models come in four striking finishes: black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium.
