Honor, the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has just launched its latest foldable phone Honor Magic Vs. With a horizontal fold and an inward vertical hinge, this smartphone is the first of its kind in the market, which makes it lighter. The device was initially introduced in China three months ago and is now launched at MWC 2023, offering competition to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. New Hinge Design

The Honor Magic Vs boasts a four-component hinge design, a bright display, and an impressively light body that is 10% lighter than its predecessor, weighing in at only 261 grams. The device is rated by TUV Rheinland for up to 400,000 folds, making it incredibly durable and able to withstand everyday use.

The Magic Vs promises a promising set of specs and features, including a 6.45-inch 120Hz external OLED display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080 and a 7.9-inch 90Hz folding tablet screen with a 2K+ resolution. It also supports stylus input for the folding screen, although it does not have a slot for the so-called Magic Pen stylus.

SnapDragon 8+ Gen1 Under The Hood

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and runs on Magic UI 7.1 OS on top of Android 13. The device also features improved main and telephoto cameras on the back, with a 54MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide shooter with a 122-degree field-of-view, and an 8MP 3x tele lens. The front-facing cameras are 16MP, capable of handling selfies on either screen.

The battery has been upgraded to a 5,000 mAh capacity with 66W fast charging, providing the device with ample battery life throughout the day. However, the phone is not equipped with wireless charging technology.

Other notable features include AI noise reduction for audio and video calls and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for secure and easy access to the device. Honor is launching the phone in two colors, Cyan and Black.

The Honor Magic Vs is available in a 12GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration, priced at €1,599. This price point puts it on par with other high-end smartphones in the market, offering consumers excellent value for money given its impressive specifications and unique foldable design.
