Google has released the last update for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, incorporating the February 2023 security patch. Initially launched in 2019, the Pixel 4 series has received three years of monthly Android security updates and exclusive Pixel enhancements, including the full Android 13 update in August 2022. As per Google’s tradition for its flagship Pixel phones, a final update is released after the monthly updates have expired, and the Pixel 4 series follows suit.

Today, along with the general February 2023 update for current Pixel phones, Google has released an update for the Pixel 4, its first update since October 2022. This update brings the security enhancements of the February 2023 Android Security Bulletin but is unlikely to include any other changes. Based on the build number starting with “TP1A” instead of “TQ1A”, the new Pixel 4 update does not incorporate the improvements of Android 13 QPR1, which was released in December 2022.

This final Pixel 4 update is now rolling out through carriers and can also be manually downloaded and installed from Google website or check for the OTA update.

After publication, Google confirmed that this will be the last update for the Pixel 4 series, marking the end of an era for a phone that introduced unique features such as Soli motion sensors and face unlock support.
