As the Galaxy S24 series gears up for an early next-year launch, leaks are beginning to shape our expectations regarding its camera hardware. Unsurprisingly, surpassing the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s impressive 200MP primary camera is no small feat. The Galaxy S23 Ultra boasted a remarkable 200MP Isocell HP2 sensor, developed in-house by Samsung. Now, according to the previously mentioned leaker, the upcoming S24 Ultra is poised to retain the same 200MP camera but with a twist—a new Isocell HP2SX sensor. While, at first glance, this sensor appears to mirror the HP2 in terms of specifications, including the 0.6 µm pixel size and 1/1.3-inch optical-equivalent size, the leaker suggests that it represents an optimized iteration of its predecessor.

Fascinatingly, the S24 Ultra is anticipated to introduce an upgraded 3x telephoto camera. Rumor has it that this camera will sport a 50MP sensor, measuring 1/2.52″ in size, with 0.7µm pixels. This represents a substantial increase in sensor size, and it’s poised to deliver a noteworthy enhancement in image quality.
